Jonathan Sanchez is a Charleston-based writer and the owner of Blue Bicycle Books on Upper King Street (a Charleston gem that sells new, used, rare and local books). He is the author of two books…..Fools All of Us: Stories Of The White City and Bandit…..and has given readings in cafés, bars, libraries, a yoga studio and a hat shop. Jonathan also teaches poetry in schools through the Write Of Summer camp.

Born in Gainesville, Fla and raised in Charlotte, N.C., Jonathan graduated from West Charlotte High School and then Yale University. He came to Charleston in 1996 to work for the The Post and Courier, which he left to pursue his fiction and poetry. He lives in the Wagener Terrace neighborhood with his wife Lauren and daughter. He is a self-described former mediocre triathlete.

Pecha Kucha Night Profile – Tim Hussey

A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Tim started working as an illustrator and art director in New York in 1992. Over the years he worked for publications like GQ, Rolling Stone, Outside, Musician, Men’s Health and The New York Times.

At the same time, Tim’s paintings have been exhibited in solo and double shows in New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit, South Carolina, Santa Fe, and most recently the Shepard Fairey’s Gallery Subliminal Projects in L.A., Art Basel in Miami and the Zeitgeist Gallery in Nashville. His fine art can be found in several books including Mark Murphy’s Dialogue, and Why? and Steve Heller’s Handwritten.

Along the way, he’s won numerous awards, has been recognized by Print Magazine and Communication Arts and has taught at the School of the Visual Arts in New York City.

Recently Tim picked up his first love again, the medium of photography, and has begun being published editorially and exhibited in the fine art realm.

This month’s issue of Metropolis magazine has a nice update on the Pecha Kucha movement. The idea-sharing event continues to spread and now the founders are setting up a Pecha Kucha Foundation to fund the best community-focused ideas that come from the presentations.
